FRANKE PREVITE & LISA SHERMAN, "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life"
Guest appearance Friday and Saturday It’s been 10-years since Franke was last here at the Dirty Dancing Festival and we are excited to welcome him back to the stage on Friday night to share his moments and memories of working with Patrick Swayze, with the movie Dirty Dancing, and longtime connection with PanCAN. On Saturday afternoon don’t miss Previte as he joins The Band of Oz live on stage for a special performance of his timeless songs.
An Academy award-winning composer from New Jersey who was well-known as the leader of 80’s hit-makers Franke & The Knockouts , co-wrote the iconic No. 1 hit “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” and the Top 5 hit “Hungry Eyes.” Previte won the Oscar and Golden Globe for “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” and earned a Grammy nomination. Previte is currently the creator and co-producer of Calling All Divas, a nationally touring new musical tale jam-packed with decades of timeless hits celebrating music, friendship and the power of sisterhood. Franke continues to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network charity in Patrick Swayze's honor through sales of his original demo recordings of “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Dirty Dancing Festival fans can meet and learn more from Previte on Saturday as he is appearing at the PanCAN watermelon races tent where the demos are available for purchase. Lisa Sherman will guest appear at the Dirty Dancing Festival with Franke, performing together with The Band Of Oz . Lisa will also be joining the Asheville Ballet's final dance performance and Kellerman's Talent Show. Sherman has spent 15 years professionally performing both on and off Broadway as a singer-dancer, as well as sharing theatrical stage productions at Radio City Music hall with the NYC Rockettes. She has taken to the stage at Apollo Theatre and BB King’s, plus stars in her own one-women production called “Songbird.” Lisa also created and starred in her R&B show called “The Soul Sessions” and recently joined forces with Bob Burger in his tribute to “Fleetwood Mac.” In the summer of 2014, Lisa performed with Academy Award-winner Franke Previte and the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in North Carolina in a tribute to the music of Paul McCartney. STACY WIDELITZ, "She's Like The Wind"

Composer, songwriter and longstanding friend of Patrick Swayze, Widelitz returns to the Dirty Dancing Festival to share his kinship and success story with Patrick’s fans during the special celebration on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, Stacy will perform his Billboard hit “She’s Like the Wind” live on stage with the Carolina Coast Band.
Stacy and Patrick together co-wrote the song "She's Like the Wind," and celebrated as the soundtrack album shot to #1, ultimately being certified 11-times platinum. In early 1988, the song itself hit #3 on Billboard's top-40 chart and #1 on Adult Contemporary. Currently Widelitz is enjoying his time as a photographer, capturing the emotional moments of people in black and white. Look for Stacy throughout the day on Saturday as he continues this passion capturing festival highlights from fans and reliving iconic memories from the movie. |
